Hey Y'all, I am really excited to be spinning for you on Wednesday's Hookadome fire dancing night. (Thanks to Minah and MattPaul for your kind invitation)
MattPaul says that the hot freaky fun will start sometime after 9:00 PM, and I guess it will keep going till the kerosine runs out.... haha!
I will be playing a melodic set of highly percussive, bass-heavy World Dance Music that will be made up of Breaks, House and Trance of Middle Eastern, Asian and African origin. I will also be mixing it up with some (Indian) Bhangra remixes and World Funk.
Because this is a Hookadome DANCE NIGHT, I plan to spin a driving kick-ass set. However, to give you expressive dancers a variety of tempos to work with, the music will be punctuated with funky midtempo dance music that will make your hips get slinky and reckless.
To all you African Dancers, Tribal Bellydancers and Indian Temple Dancers, you don't need to have fire tools. There will be lots of great music that will appeal to you.
Looking forward to seeing you happy campers on the Playa.

I'm trusting you all to keep the music moving, otherwise I'll fall on my face. But if its anything like last year, I don't think we'll have that problem. :D

No worries Sam. I promise that you won't be disappointed with Wednesday night.
Last weekend, at a big party in Topanga, I played a five-hour practice set of Ethnic and Tribal music that rocked the house till the police shut us down at 3:30. I can't remember spinning a set that had more fun and interesting turns of style and tempo--everything from deep chunky Bellydance Beats at 85 bpm to slamming Tribal Breaks at 140.
