Re: We want to know, what you're thinking. Tell us what's on your mind.
Sat, September 11, 2004 - 2:47 PMGreat music, good smoke, some loveley ladies giving each other nekkid oil massages while the dancers swayed and bopped. Fantastic place to beat the heat and doze. At burning man, a place to take a break from the constant sensory stimulation is welcome.
The line outside, while windy at times was great place to chat with other burners. While we were waiting the Boston stilt crew came through and danced over and among the line. One stiltmaster grabbed my friend's hands and whipped her about his body like you do a child. A dome volounteer even came out with a plate of fruit and nuts for the line.
Once inside we chilled with a very relaxed big guy who was volounteering. He gave my friend a foot massage and complained a little of stress. Apparently the night before some drunks made their way in and forgot their manners. I don't know the details, but he needed some decompression time from it. Great fella.
It also provided a relaxed and social environment for two of my friends to establish some physical contact that they both sorely needed. -

Sat, September 11, 2004 - 4:17 PMHey, I qualify as a very relaxed big guy and I was giving out foot massages at some point as a means of dealing with the tension. We had a pretty large influx of revelers on Friday night. What was your friend's name that received the foot massage? -

Sun, September 12, 2004 - 4:22 PMYep. Looks like you. :)
Mandy was a small girl with a shaved head. She's on my friend list. I think she was flesh-colored that day, but was blue the day before.
Heh. I'll invite her to this tribe.

Sat, September 11, 2004 - 3:10 PMRecommendation: PLEASE don't locate on the Esplanade again next year: This as you know will cut down on the long lines. I made it in (was it Tues or Wed night) and saw some great dancing--great lighting, atmosphere, music, dancing--didn't smoke.
Each successive night I found either a long line, members only allowed, closed, or nonperformances--which is ok, but I really dug your place A LOT!
Thanks! -

Re: We want to know, what you're thinking. Tell us what's on your mind.
Sat, September 11, 2004 - 4:25 PMWe can't really be off-Esplanade, though you're right that it would make the line go away. We can draw crowds of many hundreds out front, where an off-Esplanade spot couldn't accomodate. Plus we do a lot of fire art which they frown upon off-Esplanade.
But, we all mostly agree the line has to go. There is a very active discussion on how we're going to do this.
I'll make a post addressing the damn line, and copy in some of the circulating ideas.
Thanks for the input! -

Re: We want to know, what you're thinking. Tell us what's on your mind.
Sun, September 12, 2004 - 10:22 PMHello, I'm AJ's friend, here to say thanks so much for the beautiful atmosphere, tasty smokes and opportunity to meet so many other burners. Thanks also to Heath for the perfect foot massage and Large purple ceiling/flower. The hookahdome was easily my favorite place to chill at burning man. Many fortuitous events seem to culminate around this site. Even the line outside for me was a fine place to be.
BTW If you wish to cut back on line time, picture this: the hookahglobe! Twice the capacity, and it doubles as a mutant vehicle! Or more seriously what about a larger tent- mebbe two domes with a small archway connecting them so it's still one room but each side retains its small, cozy feeling. -

Re: We want to know, what you're thinking. Tell us what's on your mind.
Sat, September 11, 2004 - 6:57 PMmy friend and i got in and were immediately asked to join another couple, who were experimenting.....
it was the perfect moment in the perfect space. She needed some non-threatening masculine attention (my friend's a masseuse and instinctively gave her that) and he was one of the most present young men i've ever met, making it easy for me to relax and open to an otherwise stranger. "quality vs quantity" as he put it. and then his gf needed him back, and my friend and i went off, deeply touched by a briedf but sweet encounter.
this was early in the week- it was THE quintessential BMan encounter for me, and made me feel at home, for which i'm truly grateful!
needless to say, the atmosphere, music, and visuals made it our favorite chill space....tho we never got in again!

wonderful oasis from the heat and the dust - exchanged stories & massage with some lovely people - enjoyed the rose, which brought back vivid memories of Isfahan ...
