it was absolutely amazing to see you perform at the playa. Thank you for making my first experience memorable. I really enjoyed the fire dance performances on the evening of Wed, August 30th. Especially the duet poi spinners. I was mesmerized. The music was intoxicating. I crave it now, can any one please point me to direction where I can find the music that was playing on Wed night. It was middle eastern music with Drum and base.

Hi, DJ Patrick Harvard here. I'm glad you enjoyed my music. I had a blast spinning at the Hookadome. Many people came up to me that night and asked, "Where do I find music like this." Well, most of it was material that I have collected over the past several years from a number of different genres. Because there are so many different sources and very little of it can be found in the typical record store, it is impossible to point you in any one direction. Much of what I played comes from dance singles.
I was DJing spontaneously from a large collection of music and, with the dust flying as I operated my decks and mixer through a plastic drop cloth, and being so playa challenged, I was unable to write down a set list. However, below is a guide to some of the genres and artists you heard me spin:
In wanting to honor the Hookadome theme, I played electronically enhanced Bellydance music, Arabic House and Arabic Trance from artists such as Natacha Atlas, Said Mrad and Digital Bled.
I played Tribal Breaks and Afro Tribal House from Lee Coombs, Elite Force, Chus & Ceballos, Lee Patterson and others.
I played Asian Underground music by Dhammal, Masala Sound System, Asian Dub Foundation, Sonik Gurus, Shiva Soundsystem, Juttla, Swaraj, and Visionary Underground.
I also played some Reggae influenced Breaks, Hip-Hop and Funk by artists such as Aquasky, Freestylers, Ms. Thing and Roots Manuva.
If you want to hear more of my sets, I play regularly in Southern and Northern California (and farther afield) with a number of extraordinary World Dance DJs you would enjoy--David Starfire, Cheb i Sabbah, Karsh Kale, Rhythmystic, Haji Ji, Janaka Selecta, Soulsalaam, DJ Dragonfly and DJ Omer.
Hope that helps!
